Andrew Barter Varsity Head Coach

About our Coaches:
Andrew Barter - Head Coach

Andrew Barter played high school lacrosse at Tabor Academy, MA, where he started as a goalie for three years.  He was captain of his team and was awarded All-American honors in 1996. He attended Gettysburg College where he was a three-time All-American, including first-team honors in 1999.  He was the first back-to-back Centennial Conference Player of the Year (1999, 2000) and was tabbed NCAA Division III Goalie of the Year in 1999. He was a three-time all-conference first-team selection and finished as the conference’s all-time leader in save percentage (.620) and goals against average (7.02).  Barter led the team to four NCAA appearances and three conference titles. In his senior year, was captain of his team. Barter was inducted into the Gettysburg College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

Mr. Barter has coached lacrosse for 15 years at Cardigan Mountain School, Tabor Academy, Landon School, and Berkshire School.  He recently moved to Minnesota and is entering his entering his first year coaching lacrosse at Totino-Grace. In addition to coaching lacrosse, he is a father of two and teaches French at TG.

Andy Schwartz - Assistant Coach

Will Halstead - Assistant Coach
Will Halstead was given his first lacrosse stick in 1980 and was taught the basics by Donnie Tillar.  He attended James W. Robins High School in Fairfax, VA, where he started as a freshman and played for four years.  Coach Halstead was recruited to Army for football and decide to walk-on to the lacrosse team.  He transferred to St John's in Collegeville, MN, in 1987 and he helped to start and played for the inaugural St. John’s Lacrosse Team.  He has been a coach for Minneapolis, St. Anthony, and the St. Paul Lacrosse youth programs. He also has coached highschool lacrosse for the St. Paul Celts and is the current Boys Coordinator for St. Paul Youth Lacrosse.

Daniel Kolles - Assistant Coach
Coach Kolles is coaching lacrosse for the first time this year.  He is passionate about game and happy to support the Totino-Grace program.  He is a father of a senior on the Eagles team.

The 2017-2018 school year will mark the 19th season of boys' lacrosse at TG. One of the state’s early adopters of lacrosse, TG was part of the 2000 class that increased the number of schools in MN playing lacrosse from 11 to 16. Started by a couple of passionate students, Eagle lacrosse has grown into one of the most successful programs in the state, reaching 5 state tournaments since the 2004-2005 season.
